Seeking admission into a B.Tech program is not easy. It requires you to follow a predefined process that includes fulfilling the eligibility criteria, clearing the essential entrance exam, attending counselling, confirming admission, and then reporting to the allotted college. You have to cross several hurdles for Engineering admission in India and to become a successful engineer! Here is a breakdown of the steps or process involved:

Step 1. Check Eligibility

Before anything else, make sure you’re eligible to apply for a B.Tech Admission

Age Limit: Most colleges have an age limit, usually 17–25 years.
Education: You need to have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (sometimes called PCM) as your main subjects.
Minimum Marks: A certain percentage is required, generally around 50-75% in Class 12 exams, depending on the college.

Step 2. Choose Entrance Exams

In India, most B.Tech admission is based on entrance exams. These exams test your knowledge of PCM and sometimes include aptitude tests.
Some common ones are

• JEE Main and Advanced: For IITs, NITs, and top colleges.
• State-Level Exams: Like MHT-CET, WBJEE, and KCET for state universities.
