MBBS admission in Karnataka is done on the basis of marks secured in the NEET exam. Candidates who have qualified the NEET exam with the required marks and fulfil the other eligibility criteria set by the National Medical Commission (NMC) are eligible to apply for MBBS admission in Karnataka.

The MBBS admission process in Karnataka generally starts in the month of June and the classes commence from August. The MBBS course duration in Karnataka is 4.5 years, followed by 1 year of mandatory internship.

  • Candidates should be passed with 50% marks in 10+2 from any recognised board with English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
  • Karnataka SC/ST/OBC Categories, the minimum qualifying marks are 40% instead of 50%.
  • The candidate must have completed 17 years of age as on or before 31st December of the year of Karnataka NEET UG examination.
  • There is no upper age limit for appearing in Karnataka NEET UG.

Nativity/ Domicile Holder: Candidates will be considered domicile holders or natives of the state if they fulfil either of the following criteria:

  • In order to sit in Karnataka NEET UG, Karnataka Domicile candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their Class 12 board exams.
  • The parents of the candidates must have studied from Karnataka for at least 7years.

Candidates who will be appearing for their qualifying examination in 2023 can also apply for Karnataka NEET UG provided they fulfil all other eligibility criteria laid down by the authorities.
